Introduction: For the Spring Term every freshman has to write a 3-5 page paper in the 3.5 format with a thesis and a forecast for World Civilizations class.
Task: You will visit the library once a week for six weeks to go over the six steps required for writing your term paper. The school requires that you write this paper in the 3.5 format. This format includes: an introduction with a thesis and a forecast that includes 3 key points, at least 3 body paragraphs (explaining the 3 key points), and a conclusion.
Process: There is a six step process for this project. 1. Finding and researching a topic by using books in the Kirby Library, using Kirby Library Databases, using PowerLibrary, and using qualified web sites. 2. Creating a thesis statement and a forecast with 3 main points. 4. Creating citations and taking notes in NoodleTools. 5. Writing an outline. 6. Writing the paper.
Resources: You will use the Kirby Library website http://www.youseemore.com/wyomingseminary/Kirby/ for library books, Kirby Library databases, and under the "How do I" tab find the NoodleTools link. You will use the local public library website www.osterhout.lib.pa.us and the barcode number off the back of your Luzerne county library card for PowerLibrary resources. All other resources can be found on http://rollyo.com/imiller/term_paper_help
Evaluation: You will be graded on how well you followed the six steps with the rubric provided by your World Civilizations teacher.
Conclusion: This will be your first 3.5 paper experience. All history teachers and most other teachers will require that you use this process and turn in a 3.5 style term paper for the rest of you time at Wyoming Seminary.
